Avg. Gasoline price in the Tampa area is about $4.05 per gallon this, no doubt has been hitting hard on the consumers and esp. commuters like me who have about 80+ miles to commute everyday.
I recently bought a motor cycle to help manage(not cut down) my commute costs.
I did not do the complete math before I bought the motorcycle since my intention wasn't to replace the existing vehicle(Altima) I had but to complement it.
I did the math today and its not very encouraging financially but environmentally for sure.
From the analysis, I would save about $1850 if I ride the bike everyday to work and can recoup the cost of a used motorcycle(assuming cost is $4000) in about 3 years but commuting on a motorcycle everyday for 80+ miles is just not feasible...
